What Refugee House is, who our programmes are for, and how to work with us.
About Refugee House
What is Refugee House?
Refugee House is a refugee-led non-profit organization based in Arua City, Uganda. We function as both a think tank and an action hub, combining research, business incubation, legal protection, climate action, cultural heritage and storytelling under one integrated ecosystem to promote self-reliance.
Where do you operate?
Our main physical facility and headquarters are located in Mvara, Arua City, West Nile, Uganda. We run direct grassroots interventions within surrounding hosting communities and settlements like the Rhino Camp Refugee Settlement.
What makes Refugee House different from traditional humanitarian aid organizations?
Traditional models treat refugees as passive beneficiaries of aid. Refugee House shifts the paradigm to agency and empowerment. We are completely refugee-led and community-driven, building a sustainable ecosystem where the people closest to the challenges design the long-term solutions.
